Discover the charm of Torta Rogel, a classic Argentine dessert with layers of crispy puff pastry and silky dulce de leche. A delicious culinary tradition that you must try.
16 discs of puff pastry dough (you can buy them or make them yourself)
1 kg of dulce de leche
200 g chopped walnuts
500 ml milk cream
200 g powdered sugar
Vanilla essence to taste
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 180°C.
Spread the puff pastry discs on a baking sheet and prick with a fork to prevent them from puffing up. Bake until golden brown, about 10 minutes.
While the dough is cooling, prepare the cream by whipping the heavy cream with the powdered sugar and vanilla essence until soft peaks form.
On a serving plate, place one of the puff pastry discs and spread a generous layer of dulce de leche.
Cover with another puff pastry disk and add a layer of whipped cream.
Repeat this process until you have used all the disks, making sure the last layer is whipped cream.
Sprinkle the chopped walnuts over the top layer.
Refrigerate the cake for at least 2 hours before serving. This will allow the flavors to blend and the cake to acquire the characteristic texture of the Rogel Cake.
